Hollywood liberal, Bollinger bolshevik, choose your favorite pejorative. Turn-ons include film/TV, music, civil rights, architecture, cars, travel, food, gin martinis. Turn-offs include broccoli, bigots and spectacularly awful people like some billionaires who come to mind. He/Him.

Once again for those who didn’t hear it….THE SUPREME COURT DID NOT DECIDE TO ALLOW EMERGENCY CARE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN….THEY JUST DELAYED THE DECISION.

@GottaLaff Lawyer at a panel last night was saying all the abortion stuff was likely just delaying outrageous decisions until after the election—looking somewhat moderate to limit the subject’s radioactivity.

Democratic club. The topic tonight is Project 2025, Trump is ahead in Nevada and you’d better believe my coping mechanism is that half of this is vodka.

Mixing a much larger drink as a hedge in case there isn’t real booze on offer. Without which I can’t imagine anyone enduring this debate.

(I refuse to associate my beloved gin with this debacle.)

I talk about what a small place Las Vegas and Nevada are—and probably I have more entrée than some—but still it’s kind of hilarious that I’m chatting with the recently former governor at my small debate viewing party.

And of course Joe Biden’s age is showing—but he’s the fundamentally decent guy with actual policy ideas, actual competence and actual concern for working people. Anyone watching objectively knows what he’s about. And what that creep on the other side of the stage is about.

Holberg OP ,

At the end of the day, I might vigorously disagree with Biden on a few issues, but I’m largely comfortable with his continued leadership. And I’m largely comfortable with Kamala Harris if age gets in the way of his second term.

I’m, likewise, fucking terrified of the outcomes if Trump gets a second term. And of whom he might have chosen as a vice president if age gets in the way of his second term.

Since it matters so much to MAGA types—the NRA playbook, really—this would be a great time to identify anyone who lied when purchasing a gun. And convict them, of course.

How much alone time vs socializing do you need?

For me there are a few people who are usually equalizing, and I can just be around them, so I won't count that. But generally, I find about 3 times a week, I'm game for socializing. A day in between to rest is usually nice, but the larger the gathering or if we go somewhere particularly noisy or I'm meeting new people that involves more effort, and my social battery empties sooner. I'm very curious where everyone else falls on this!

Holberg ,
@Holberg@mstdn.social avatar

@RickiTarr I call myself a high-functioning introvert because I’m a really social guy who’s generally perceived as a total extrovert. I like going out most nights and I’m comfortable in every type of situation. Including a room full of people I’ve never met.

BUT it does exhaust me. Since I live alone, I usually find enough time in any given day to recharge on a rolling basis. But then—every so often—I’ll realize I have a weekend without any plans and—hallelujah!—I’ll spend it luxuriously alone.

I dunno, I kinda think if I can say something like ‘I hope the thousands of children killed by Netanyahu’s relentless and indiscriminate assault on Gaza haunt him until the end of time’ there might just be non-‘outrageous’ reasons to charge the man with crimes.

This is a HUGE deal in a lot of ritzy LA zip codes. Either not being able to get fire insurance at all or being presented with annual premiums like $200,000.

Really wondering what kind of effect this will have on valuations.

Bloomberg: Beverly Hills 90210 Mansions Lose Fire Coverage as Insurers Flee

State Farm is discontinuing fire insurance policies in wealthy California areas. It’s part of a nationwide trend fueled by climate change.

It’s sickening to know what the Resnicks are trying to do not only to workers on their own farms but on every farm in California.

Look at their house on Sunset Boulevard sometime and tell me if you think they can’t afford unions.

You wouldn’t tolerate Trump’s attitudes or behaviors for a single moment if he were your 13-year-old kid, but—sure—he should lead the free world.

Most of these kids are still alive and still voting.

The only difference between now and then is that they insist racism isn’t racist.

Such is the state of American reading comprehension that I’m never in this automatic revolving door without getting stuck because someone pushes it and it stops.

And then they always push again AT DIRECT EYE LEVEL WITH DO NOT PUSH because god help us these people are all voting in elections.
