Much of my pleasure reading lately has been in the space of kinky erotic romance, which means my usual Kindle weather report is "steamy with a chance of severe werewolves." Thus did I find myself laughing out loud at a line by Cory Doctorow aka @pluralistic when he spoke of a "whole world of indie Kindle books pitched at incredibly voracious communities of readers, especially the very long tail of very niche sub-sub-genres radiating off the woefully imprecise category of 'paranormal romance.'"

The kings of the economy wail that nobody wants to work. But from where I sit, it looks like those same fuckers don't want to manufacture or sell products.

The kings of the economy are on strike. They won't sell you an object that sits there, does its work, minds its business. There's no excitingly toxic business model in that, so they refuse.

If it doesn't have a monthly subscription or a cloud services contract or a data harvesting angle or proprietary consumables, they aren't interested.

Pornocalypse comes for Google Drive. This appears like it might be the "we classify everything erotic as spam" subvariant that's been growing in popularity lately.

Today the pornocalypse came for Gumroad, which has been a platform where a lot of erotica and fetish artists could sell their stuff. As of today, all "sexually explicit" material is unwelcome there. A few hasty details, and a side-by-side graphic showing the adult content policy changes in the last 48 hours, are to be found in my ErosBlog post where I document this sort of thing:
