Templating is so underrated. Everyone throwing JS around and I’m here using my curly bois {{ }}

Just recalling that time I heard on an internal company grapevine that someone said in a meeting, without irony,
“Responsive design is a fad”

Regretfully decided to peer into Twitter and stumbled into a shitpost claiming that you can’t be a real developer if you have to use a framework to use JavaScript.

So people more or less know my view on JS frameworks, I’d prefer not to use them if possible. However there is no way I'm going to be going round gatekeeping the whole ass industry just because you used a lib you're comfortable with.

Get off your high horse and be more welcoming, not exclusionary

What’s worrying is that all of it sounds like a joke, but it’s all real 🫠

Newly added to my #WebComponents collection: <link-peek>!

Turn any regular anchor link into a rich preview (also known as an ‘unfurled’ link). Can be used with any JSON API and allows for custom templating.

Prefect for creating more visual interest on links without filling the page with additional HTML noise:

New version of <mastodon-post> Web Component just dropped!

You can now access nested data returned from the Mastodon public API using dot notation, e.g. account.display_name or account.avatar.

My friend from my Nord design system days @WickyNilliams has created a set of #WebComponents for displaying calendars called ‘cally’.
