A quaint street on a steep hill. Watercolour on Arches paper. A3 size. The she’s number of odd angles and vanishing points made this a challenging painting! The drawing was a mess but it pulled back at the watercolour stage.

I was feeling a bit lost yesterday, my hands seem to have forgotten how to paint, and everything was looking like a child’s daubings. Who am I if I’m not an artist? Anyway, long story short, but I’m being more philosophical today and remembering that this has happened before, many times, and you have to just go away and do something else and after a bit gently start sketching again with just a pencil or some charcoal or something.

Last backcatalogue painting of the day: A country path - watercolour, charcoal and ink. Several times this painting looked too dark, but I love the way it ended up. One of my favourites.
