I don't feel the need to correct anyone, EXCEPT when it comes to myths about date rape drugs. Emotions haven't yet had time to cool. These folks 's gratitude for the events of that day will increase as the years go by, and they witness the life trajectory of those children who did survive. Talking here watching those tykes who didn't bite the bust grow up to be 8th grade metheads who rack up multiple felonies before they're eighteen. Or making it to community college, only to get knocked up by some loser who's already sired 15 other kids by a shitload of women, drop out of CC, and end up unable to support themselves or the child

In the not too distant future, the folks who are grumbling in the story in The OP will be saying to themselves: "Well, shit... We ultimately dodged a bullet, even if Bobby and Sally sure as hell didn't back in The 2020s"

That's not what Rubinas says in the email. He explicitly encourages facilitators and participants alike to put things like skin color(Hell, he uses the word "race", even though, biologically, this is a fiction), gender, sexual orientation, etc front and center in our interactions, instead of focusing on our shared humanity. THAT'S unpardonably racist/sexist/homophobic/ableist, etc etc

As a swarthy complexioned child of immigrants to The US, I'm disgusted by the fact that an organization I've served since '14 is now encouraging straight, rich people who happen to be fair-skinned to jump to conclusions about those of us who happen to be a few shades darker than themselves

By encouraging us all to jump to conclusions about one another based on traits such as our complexions, gender, and sexual orientations, he and the handful of activists who've infected so many organizations throughout America is promoting a focus on our similarities rather than our differences
