DYK eat fallen tree leaves?

Here’s a small cottontail eating a big maple leaf. 🍁🐇💚

19-second square video of a young cottontail eating a big green maple leaf almost half as big as her on the grassy park ground. Two scenes feature the same rabbit, but the colors look different due to different zooms—the bunny is zoomed closer in the second scene. In the first scene, after hopping a few steps away to settle down to eat the leaf, the ears of the bunny is moving fast in many directions because she doesn’t want to share this gift of delicacy with her siblings who are grazing the grass nearby, so she keeps herself extra alert. She’s eating as fast as she can, but only makes a dent in the big leaf in this short clip. Extremely adorable. Natural background sound of the area.

@otterX I couldn't have attested it about cottontails, but I do know domestic rabbits do; every pet rabbit we've ever kept loves eating leaves. Come the autumn a bundle of dried leaves from the yard is practically candy.

They're also quite fond of eating baby maple weed trees, given the chance.
