  • If a story sounds too good (or funny) to be true, it probably is.

  • Ignore all big news stories - esp. about celebrities or political figures - unless you can verify from TWO mainstream sources minimum.

  • Photos/video isn't proof anymore

If you want to pull a prank:

  • Make sure it is actually a prank. At the end, everyone should be aware of what is and isn't real and EVERYONE should be laughing. If anyone is upset or offended, you failed

  • Remember Scalzi's Law: The failure state of "clever" is "asshole". Don't be an asshole.

Protip: If you see someone talking about some "big story" about Dungeons & Dragons on YouTube that sounds like a massive huge giant story that everyone should be talking about...

...check and see if any actual industry news outlets are talking about it. Because 9 times out of 10, it's complete bullshit.
