I feel kinda sad for all the people still posting complaints about stuff they know won't go away or be changed. It's like if I went online and bitched EVERY DAY about not getting a million dollars, fully believing that by doing that I'll eventually get a million dollars....
Unfortunately that's not how the world works and people ranting about stuff like AI, thinking it's doing anything besides making them look like a crazy person, is just so sad.🤦♂️
It's not going anywhere. It really isn't. I'm sorry to break it to you like this. I hope you can move on and find something more important to spend your time complaining about.
@grantmc a more fitting analogy would be like ONLY using the sun to get a tan, then lambasting the sun about your skin cancer when it's quite obvious that you're using the sun in the dumbest way possible.
@BeAware with any social media software there will be a mass of people with their hands tied. Fedi allows technically inclined people to make their own rules but it still leaves a lot of people stuck. I'm just not sure what issue Eugen is trying to solve with the new rules. I'm sure most people there just want to post cat pictures without having to see Elons tweets forced into their home feed 🤔
> He refuses to acknowledge Fedi Admin concerns with regards to Meta federation
That was rather good, imo. We can suspend threads later if they come up with something horrible.
> For the latter, I am confused why this is the case, but given the recent spam wave
I'm not sure what are these requested features, but one of lor.sh moderators told me that moderation tools in mastodon are indeed trash 🤔
> generalist instance
By "generalist" i mean those mega free speech instances who barely have any moderation policy and don't ban anyone. This usually leads to them being filled with all sorts of horrible stuff, but on the other hand, it secure you from discrimination if you fitting the normie agenda poorly. The ai art question is the good example of it.
> it's literally the main instance that comes up when you search Mastodon
Yep, and it is a problem. M.s. is tooo big for a fediverse server. If users will migrate from it to other instances, because they fear meta or because they want to post ai pictures, it will be good, i think.
