A note for UK gardeners that Tesco have Belle de Boskoop apple trees for £14.

We can obviously be critical of a Dutch variety being offered when we have plenty of our own waiting to be propagated. An interesting cooking apple though, which doesn't mush when cooked.

I will pass because mine would be pot grown and I don't think that suits heavy apples. For open ground, worth considering. The foliage is coarse, rather like a plum.

Aronia × prunifolia, purple chokeberry leaves starting to grow after being dormant all winter. These were transplanted about a month ago from a dry, rocky, hot location where they grew very little and developed no substantial roots since they were planted.
