Homage to Rachel Ruysch 1664-1760. A Dutch painter, successful in her own lifetime, specialising in flowers. Her paintings sold for more than Rembrandt´s in the period. She is considered one of the greatest still life painters of all time.
Painting of flowers, greenery and insects, in acrylic, with hydrangeas, a rose, and a variety of insects on the leaves.
Another one of my favorite flowers to paint is the ever-changing hydrangea. When it comes to gardening, I'm not very scientific, so I will hope for the best that my hydrangeas are happy.
I love hydrangeas and the variety of petals and colors that can be found. In this painting, there's also a mix of garden wildflowers that I took poetic license with. The original is currently available.
I love the changing colors of hydrangeas, especially when they are fully mature, and the colors, start to look like watercolors with so many subtleties. SOLD
