I've been told that Mastodon and the Fediverse will never catch on (as in get to the point people know what it is / use it).

Tell me a reason you enjoy Mastodon / The Fediverse.

@freezr I'm always hesitant to mention big project devs like this because I don't want them to get spammed with unnecessary notifications anymore than they already are.

However, @snarfed.org@snarfed.org is the man to question. (hope this doesn't cause a spam attack Ryan😬 )

Question: What is a good fedi instance to be on if you're a small business that builds software for independent websites and the people building them?

front-end.social isn't accepting signups atm and I dunno about indieweb.social :/

Any recommendations?

I am at a loss… :

At work I have a Win10 server with 10Gbps NICs and I try to subscribe to a 100Mbps UDP multicast group. That works, but I am losing more packets than tolerable. Linux servers on the same network and similar task do just fine, so I can rule that out as a culprit. How can I methodologically debug this (no windows jokes please)?

@claudius that’s not reinventing tcp, mind you. That’s what every voip service does to know whether to discard a late udp packet

@LangerJan
No, I meant the ability.to display lost packets that iperf could count, even when windows can't know that any packet would be missing.
