Canada should maintain its multinational approach to the Israeli GOV/Palestinian conflict by defining its own position to expressly and positively reject toxic tribalism, reaffirming its commitment to multiculturalism, and compartmentalizing itself from the American support of the Israeli GOV.
“…experts told CNN that if Israel is using unguided munitions at the rate the US believes they are, that undercuts the Israeli claim that they are trying to minimize civilian casualties.”
“’Starvation must never be a means or result of warfare,’ UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Türk said, responding to an alarming food security report released on Thursday that confirmed repeated warnings of catastrophic hunger levels in the besieged enclave amid ongoing fighting.”
UN Secretary-General António Guterres "outlined devastation that includes more than 20,000 Palestinians reportedly killed and 1.9 million people, 85 per cent of the population, forced to flee their homes.”
Disturbing accounts emerge of Israeli soldiers carrying out an operation on Kamal Adwan Hospital that involve interrogating, menacing, and shooting hospital staff, desecrating remains
“…[WHO] chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Sunday alleged that Israeli forces’ “effective destruction” of Kamal Adwan over the last several days had caused the deaths of at least eight patients, including a 9-year-old child.”
Legal and Humanitarian experts raise the issue whether Israel's military operations against Al Shifa Hospital was proportionate to an assessed threat.
"In the weeks since, other hospitals in Gaza have come under attack in ways that mirror what happened at al-Shifa — making the assault not just a watershed moment in the conflict, but a vital case study in Israel’s adherence to the laws of war.”
After a brief review of the Israeli GOV/Palestine situation, I have concern that for this unique moment in 2023, Netanyahu offers War as a Product to prolong his power, and the peoples of Israel and Palestine can only pay with their lives. Netanyahu is incentivized to maintain the violence in Gaza. He is permitted to slow his trial due in part to “his” war, and in turn Israel is expected to pay the US GOV for the military hardware used over time.
In the case of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu has made a career presenting himself as a strongman for Israel. Netanyahu has presented himself as the only one who can protect Israel, the only person who could prevent a Palestinian State, and someone with a special relationship with the US GOV. Over the course of his political career he has polarized Israeli society, and arguably radicalized the leadership of Israel at multiple levels.
From links posted previously, there’s more information available to support the idea that Israel has conducted a sustained effort over decades to discriminate, segregate, and oppress Palestinians.
Diana Buttu discusses the open discourse by Israeli leaders that express the intent of Genocide. Buttu goes on to comment about the lack of Due Process and abuse suffered by Palestinians detained by Israel over the years.
Also, and just as important, the International Community and broader public learned of the unique US GOV weapons stockpiles that exist in Israel.
“‘There’s only one other stockpile like this, in [South] Korea, it’s very unique and allows for a transfer to happen fast,’ she said. ‘But the stockpile does not authorise Israel to just take things and take things for free,’”
Consider as well, Netanyahu is largely held responsible for OCT 7, and his political career is generally thought to be over once he steps down from office.
“As many as 80% of Israelis believe Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must take responsibility for the security failures exposed by the devastating Oct. 7 assault on Israeli by Hamas, a poll in the Ma'ariv newspaper showed on Friday.”
"Israel Defence Forces (IDF) dropped around 1,000 bombs a day in the first week of the campaign and said that it had conducted more than 10,000 airstrikes on Gaza as of Dec. 10. The number of aircraft involved or bombs dropped on each mission is unknown, but Israel's main strike aircraft are capable of carrying six tons of bombs each.”
Israeli and US GOV officials deny South Africa's allegations of genocide. If one goes back to post 56 to download South Africa's 84 page claim against Israel, page 30 begins a horrifying chronicle of acts of violence characterized as genocidal along with citations.
Further down, I count 12 pages of quotes and remarks of Israeli GOV officials that are characterized as genocidal in nature.
Andrew Feinstein discusses South African Apartheid and draws a comparison to Israel.
He also raises the query of how the US and UK GOVs were not necessarily able to visibly and expressly support South African Apartheid, yet GOVs seem so ready to vocalize their support of Israel in the 21st Century.
Then, Feinstein points out the role of the International Community through the power of the boycott.
Further discussion of the Great Firewall of Israel. Of note would be discussion of how closely public figures, newspapers and journalists are followed by and/or targeted by Israeli GOV Censors or Agents, and how journalists risk their lives to continue reporting out of the region.
Boguslaw explores the Great Firewall of Israel and how the IDF controls foreign news orgs operating in Israel - and how this practice is followed by CNN.
The IDF “dictates subjects that are off-limits for news organizations to cover, and censors articles it deems unfit or unsafe to print”
"In order to obtain a press pass in Israel, foreign reporters must sign a document agreeing to abide by the dictates of the censor.”
Majority Report discusses how changes to Israel's laws restrict Freedom of Speech, and criminalizes both Expression and Consumption of content in support of Palestinians.
