    A bunch of half a dozen narrow pointed leaves, dar and mottled, hangs at the end of a long twig that curves from top left into the centre of the frame.     In the uper centre of this image the buildings of Kenilworth Castle are partly obscured by trees. Below it, a flooded area has frozen into an icy pond. In front of that, at the bottom of the image clumps of rough grass and other meadow plants are covered with frost. Black and white photo in portrait format.

    An ornate wooden structure stands at the end of a terrace. Banisters can be seen on the lower right, suggesting steps going down to a lower level.     Bottom right is a terrace with a wooden balustrade. Two white chained bears stand on plinths in the balustrade, each holding a trimmed piece of wood; together they were the symbol of Robert Dudley, who owned the Castle and wanted to marry Elizabeth 1st. Between the bears, the Castle gatehouse can be seen. Black and white photo.
