Hm. Raw food diets for dogs.

Anything I should be worried about? Like food-borne jankiness or whatever? Worms? Stomach upset?

I've added a quarter cup of a raw turkey mix (there's a bunch of fruits/veggies also ground up in it) from a new raw food place in the 'hood.

Benson looooved it but he's such a trash dog, he'll eat anything.

(I forgot how much I hate handling raw meats. And now there's a tube of it in my refrigerator -- sequestered safely from everything else, of course. Gag.)

My parents were supplementing with the refrigerated loafs you can get at the grocery store, but one went very bad so they’re not doing it anymore. Their dog is super picky about food though, so he probably would reject it now regardless.

New manners for Benson this morning:

🐕‍🦺He sits for his muzzle now AND he sits while in it. No more trying to rub it off!!

🐕‍🦺🚗He sits before leaping into a car so he's more chill.

(He's still a freakshow when he gets inside but it's decreasing)

🙋🏾‍♀️🐕‍🦺He sits before greeting Miss Lady at Happy Hound. No jumping!

I'm so proud of my boi. He's learning and growing.

🏡🐕‍🦺🚗Also, I threw pride to the curb and added daycare pickup service to my membership with No Bark Zone as well as some sittings.

🤸🏾‍♀️🐕‍🦺Mama needs to not wreck her sciatica+hip walking 6 miles a day with her big dog to daycare.

Also, Benson totally coughed into my open mouth and eyes while in the car and this is how viruses jump species. Guh.

It has been a year since I adopted Benson, so I'm all in my feels about what I've been learning about being a Dog Mom.

He woke up from his morning nap about an hour ago and I took a break from work to see what he wanted: affection, snacks, a walk, play, what?

And he told me. He rubbed against me a little bit, so I gave him some affection until he got tired of it.

Then he was ready for some play, so I gave him his squeaky sunflower, and he chased that a little before settling in to chew on it for a while.

Then he came back for more rubs. And I gave him a good brushing. He loved this.

He went back to his sunflower. I went back to work.

Then he climbed on the couch, and he's napping again.

He got all his dog needs met.
