Jon Moxley vs. Powerhouse Hobbs Newly crowned IWGP World Heavyweight Champion @JonMoxley returns to action in #AEW, facing @TrueWillieHobbs at Daily's Place, the home of AEW!
If you can say one thing about #aewdynamite tonight, they put their foot on the gas pedal in a BIG BIG way tonight.
If you hate #AEW then they drove the car straight into a brick wall. If you love #AEW then you were galvanized. But galvanization of their base is probably the best call for #AEW in the post-Mania hangover, when WWE fans are still high on the Cody Rhodes win.
Anyways. Let's talk about Dynamite! (Also I figured out how to spoiler my posts, YAAAYYY)
I would like to thank Amazon for deciding to have the Fallout Premiere an hour after AEW Dyamite starts so that maybe I can see Tony Khan being unable to stop himself from self-embarassment on live TV before I binge the entire Fallout season.🤣
If you really think about it, it's kinda funny that 7 months have passed since CM Punk got fired from AEW and he's still the most interesting guy within the company.
Now, you're saying he's "not in the company". But that's the point, he doesn't work there, yet they're still talking about him and will even be putting him on their weekly show tomorrow....just think about that.🤣🤣
The opening promo from Adam Copeland on this week’s #AEWDynamite was weird and felt forced. Him doing a pump up speech about how great/fun #AEW is after Punk’s recent comments just felt minor league. Then later on the same show they book an all-time awful match where Jay White gets beat up by Billy Gunn of all people for like 15 minutes straight then it ends in a DQ. Jay White’s run in AEW has been absolutely criminal.
@timbowman I couldn't agree more...and their show hasn't been exactly "must-see TV" lately. Like I don't want blood for the sake of blood, make it mean something. Make it mean someone is getting their ass whooped. Having Texas deathmatches on weekly TV doesn't really make much sense....😬🤦♂️
I really want them to be and do good. They're just having a hard time understanding what Professional Wrestling is all about.
There's no super good "must-see" storylines. The Christian Cage/Copeland angle was good and the Swerve storyline is 🆗 but nothing is like Cody/Rock and Roman right now.
The quarter hour ratings are in for the #AEWDynamite "Big Business" episode where Mercedes Mone made her debut, courtesy of Wrestlenomics.
It started at 1 million viewers for her debut, then the show quickly dropped off a cliff into their usual ratings numbers. The main event of Willow vs. Riho only drew a paltry 627k.
This will be disappointing for them, but expected. The booking needs to improve to retain audiences.
Another somewhat middle-of-the-road #AEWDynamite
this week, which usually happens right before a PPV as they don't want to give anything away or risk anyone getting hurt when they've got big matches coming up.
Considering how strong the Revolution card is, it's hardly an issue that the go-home Dynamite didn't exactly blow anyone's socks off. They played it mostly safe, with one notable exception which I'll get to.
So I'm gonna have to watch #AEWDynamite later because my brain isn't on the wavelength of live TV right now.
To any of my followers who don't want their timeline to fill up with Pro Wrestling stuff later, I tag all my Pro Wrestling toots with things like #ProWrestling#ProfessionalWrestling#AEW#WWE#AEWDynamite depending on the event and show. The first 2 I use for ALL of them minus replies.
