Scrapwood × 60 cent test tubes = vases
Made this child's train set for my two year old. It's all scrap cherry. The wheels are 1.25" in diameter while the bases are 1.5" wide....
The Kumiko lamp is finally finished. It took the longest time to wait for the arrival of the power cable, light and light socket (e14). I like it so much that I will probably make it again for myself, haha....
As the title suggests, the larger gaps are to be filled with Kumiko. The smaller gaps will be left empty. I though about a simple pattern as in the demo lantern on the right in this picture....

Not sure why I can't upload multiple images, but there's another one just like this. Added some transtint dye to two coats of shellac, then two coats of poly, sprayed on with an HVLP gun. In hindsight, there are a few changes I would make to my design to make them easier to build, but I'm happy overall (and so is my wife)
For the box contest
Made this little box for the box contest that ends in two days. Used some scrap wood I had. This is my first box made with my mitre saw in our cellar. Had to hand sand all of this 😬 ouch hands....
I use little squeeze bottles for mineral spirits, denatured alcohol, etc. Refilling them has always been a messy and tricky operation while trying to hold the bottle, funnel, and canister all at the same time....

I just finished this bandsaw box today; my first serious attempt. The Smile Box design is originally by Parillaworks....
Made from one 2'x4' sheet of 1/4 inch Birch Ply and two eight foot sticks of cedar trim. House measures 11.5 inches wide by 24" long. Commissioned for Mia by her owner.
I'm more of a solid wood guy, learned a bit about chipboard here, for example to avoid it where possible. But the countertop is real wood :) We haven't got much space, so you have to build stuff.
I had some spare time today so i decided to make this playing card box out of some oak scraps I had laying around. Nothing too big or fancy but a nice little project for a day
Advice needed. I sanded the tops of these kiln dried rounds and then coated both sides with shellac. Most of them split a few days later....
Initially I used my commercial bevel gauge, but the blade was long enough to interfere with the swing of the brace, plus it needed to be taped down for stability....
Today, I am selling my work at Providence Flea. 275 South Water St, Providence RI....
Recently was gifted an American Boy hand plane from my Dad. He said it was originally my great-grandfather's....
Decided to try something new on a basswood oval I got on clearance. Tree burned by hand. Colors are Minwax water based color series wood stain, no paint was used. I've done gradients with paint on canvas before but never tried it on wood or with wood stain. I think it turned out pretty well for a first attempt. I haven't seen...
I know, they aren't floating yet.
I carved a walking stick for my father-in-law last year, from alder. Around 100 cm tall, slightly crooked horizontally. Painted with stained walnut varnish. Rubber end cap....
I have been a hobby woodworker for about a decade now, and this thing is by far the most fun I have in the shop. Unlike building a big piece of furniture that can take me weeks, I usually can come up with an idea and be assembling things within a few hours....
