Ah! You're getting at something interesting in human psychology: the existence of knowledge ('knowing') versus being able to use that knowledge across situations ('transfer'). Do you know the phases of learning, sometimes simplified as superficial (knowing-that), deep (knowing-how), and transfer (knowing-with)? If you do, how does that apply to this situation?
