Tipping culture ain't good. These should be covered by wages.

Flamingoaks ,

i HATE it but i live in a shithole country called the usa where u have to tip so i do it. I think its degrading and offensive to get a tip and it is awkward and annoying to tip, i hate everything about i never liked tipping and i didnt like getting tips when i worked in a restaurant and i liked even less the fact that tips were a significant part of the money i made.

I live in a country with no prior tipping culture so my answer probably doesn't hold much weight. But I obviously don't have any respect for it and would hate to actively live under a tipping culture - I probably wouldn't ever eat out or get food delivered because that extra layer of social expectation is just too much of a pain to deal with. I don't want to feel like I'm making or breaking a night of work for this poor kid handling my food.

Where I'm from pretty much the only people who get tipped are specifically food delivery drivers, and that is a matter of three to five extra dollars if you have the change hanging about, and we usually do this because we know the under the table and cash in hand nature of their employment means that there's no way they're getting paid for gas.
