Nature reserve closed for entire summer as it's 'too dangerous' ( www.somersetlive.co.uk )

A beloved nature reserve has been forced to shut its doors for the entire summer due to safety concerns. Golden Valley Nature Reserve in Wick, on Bristol's eastern fringe, has been temporarily closed until autumn due to a high number of trees infected with ash dieback disease.

Experts have warned South Gloucestershire Council and the volunteer group managing the reserve that the diseased trees pose a structural risk, making it 'too dangerous' for public access. However, as these trees cannot be felled until after the summer to safeguard local wildlife, the reserve will remain off-limits until then.
