Illinois: what you don't pay for in house, you will pay for in property taxes (avg. $5K/yr), got stupid people ((Prickster)) putting unnecessary firearms restrictions into law, all kinds of other bullshit taxes & fees, and you will generally pay in suffering for living in IL in general. There are cooler & cheaper places to live, and the numbers bear it out. Ten years in a row of population decline, and we fucking deserve it. We lost "only" 32.8K residents last year. Do not recommend.
