You are correct! Most US media companies are primarily concerned about staying in the good graces of 1. Corporate funders, and 2. Power-mad politicians. This directly impacts their journalistic priorities and the angles of their storytelling.
Fortunately we do have alternatives like Democracy Now and many others that are trying to keep us informed in spite of our tendency to close our eyes and stick our fingers in our ears.
