My #bookreview is brief/won't spoil, to spread good, great, & spectacular #horror#books far & wide.
💙📚 HORROR MOVIE by Paul Tremblay is a masterful, creepy tale of the monsters inside us, and the masks we wear to release them AND keep them at bay. It's layers upon layers of the truths hidden in illusions & the allusions hidden in the truth. It's unsettling, profoundly sad, scary: fantastic. (HarperCollins)
@stina_marie@bookstodon@horror@horrorbooks Head Full of Ghosts is always going to be impossible to top, but this feels very fresh and original to me. Also the audiobook is amazing. Not sure how the table-read chapters work on the written page, but in the audiobook it's acted out with a full cast and it works really well.
@jasonrush@bookstodon@horror@horrorbooks That's what I've heard and honestly, it would add another layer to it all so I'm genuinely curious about it. I don't typically seek out audiobooks, but I might for this one.
@stina_marie@bookstodon@horror@horrorbooks Yeah, for some books, it just works. Elizabeth Hand's Wylding Hall was another great example: the interview-style, multiple first person narratives worked great with the different voice actors.
