Progress growmies! ( lemmy.world )
Additional info in comments.
I know it's a little late for most of you, but what's your guys spring lawn care routine? ( lemmy.world )
Me I just got done mine, snow and rain made it a little too wet to do fully, but I dealt with it....
This is my cities 4th false spring. 9 days ago there was 15cm/6" of snow. ( lemmy.world )
Previous post for the reminder...
In progress pic of my new metal raised beds! They are 4' long 2' wide and a foot deep, got 6 of them! ( lemmy.world )
Check off one thing, totally ready growmies. ( lemmy.world )
1.3 yards to fill the entire 3’x40’ flower bed. Cedar mulch.
Weather was nice enough to get one of the raised beds raised another 10". ( lemmy.world )
Size of each bed is 4’x12’. All that’s missing is the 50/50 loam compost mix for the one. Other needs a tilling and the extension as well.
More starts going and more potting ups. My peppers haven't even germed, so I'm gonna have to buy some more than I planned. 21ish more days till planting. ( lemmy.world )
What’s your guys thoughts on a cold frame? I think it could be worth the investment, just for hardening off, but can they take some snow weight?
Bought this a few years ago, probably about time to give it a read. ( lemmy.world )
Aero tomatoes are flowering nicely. Gonna have some reservoir issues with the ageing lid. Can't do much until these have run their course though. ( lemmy.world )
I’m wanting to make a new lid for next time using smaller net pots. These larger ones have been punching through the lid during growth.
It's beginning to look a lot like fuck this. ( lemmy.world )
2-4 centimeters my ass….
Refreshed the bed with new cedar mulch! ( lemmy.world )
I didn’t take a before picture, just an in progress, but I took out the 4 year old mulch, never turned it before. So I ripped it all out, stripped out abount 3 inches of soil and put it in the garden bed. I then put 3 inches of a 50/50 loam compost blend and topped with 3 inches of cedar mulch.
The fun of living in a 3A climate. ( lemmy.world )
What's everyone's favorite garden flower/plant they are looking forward to this year? ( lemmy.world )
Me, I love my Lillie’s, especially these dark purple ones.
Good news! I think I figured out my tomatoe issue. ( lemmy.world )
Unfortunately, it is user error. My watering timer got switched to day mode instead of 24 hours. So it would only work when it had the light to operate, so it always worked when I was in the room…
How would you spring care for this third year fruiting raspberry. ( lemmy.world )
I’m kinda half regretting the plant to be honest, it’s spreading vicariously, maybe giving it my cannabis nutrient runoff wasn’t the best idea…...
And then there were two. ( lemmy.world )
Still a success, learned that different strains of tomatoe can have wildly different needs that may not be compatible together....
I guess I get to join in! Lillies are coming up. ( lemmy.world )
Bonus picture of midbloom last year....
Trying corn for the first time this year! I'm pretty hyped ( lemmy.world )
We have flowering tomatoes! ~4weeks in the aero system. ( lemmy.world )
The risk of pets and plants. 1 down so far. ( lemmy.world )
Aeroponics tomatoes seem to have rebounded. ( lemmy.world )
The front right and back left are probably gonna be removed anyways for some other plants in the next week. Just curious and experimenting more....
Moved the starts to the window! ( lemmy.world )
Tent was getting full. I wish I had a good south facing window, but this is west facing and gets atleast 5 hours of direct light still, so should be good for now.
Waiting to get their roots wet outside ( lemmy.world )
Tomatoes, cucumbers, paprika, cannabis, brassicas, etc....
1 of 4 (2 types) tomatoes are looking haggard. ( lemmy.world )
I think it was partially from having the lights on too strong, fixed it the other day, may have been too late....
