Coal nepobaby wrecks ecosystem. The Gujarat is neither lifeless, nor a desert. If Modi is behind something, chances are it isn't good news.

From a BBC article about the area:

The extreme rains, heat and flooding of the Ranns have created a unique ecosystem suitable for a staggering amount of flora and fauna. In the winter months from October to March, flocks of migrating birds make their home in the Little Rann, including eagles, storks, cranes, sand grouse, chats, warblers, and arguably the Ranns’ most famous feathered residents, flamingos.

The Little Rann is also one of the last refuges of the endangered Asiatic wild donkey. Elsewhere, are desert foxes, Indian blue bulls and chinkara (often called “Indian gazelles”).

Looks like this is about fixing damage caused by dynamite fishing not climate change…

I hope they can use the same technology to restore any reef, including those destroyed by climate change.

Spzi OP , in Direct Air Capture vs Thermodynamics (Cool Worlds) [25:12]

The video outlines why DAC is needed, why trees won’t cut it, the staggering amount of energy required. Conclusion: We have to bring emissions down. All in all a challenge which is just physically possible, as if it was a boss level designed around our current capabilities.

I love the channel for it’s scientific and poetic videos on astronomy. I would also love to keep the Coolest World roughly as it is.
