@Boerps@classicalmusic I saw Benjamin give a piano rectal at Aldeburgh in the 1980s. Practically destroyed the piano, everything ff even in Ravel's Valses nobles et sentimentales. His music doesn't speak to me other than a few orchestral works.
@Boerps@classicalmusic Very much, at Aix. The French went crazy over 'Written on Skin', which I find cold and not very dramatic (despite the horrid story). Everyone goes on about the beautiful orchestration, but substance? Not enough.
@Boerps@classicalmusic Hateful creature, lazy artst with a god-given voice she never used properly. Shame on La Scala, shame on Pappano for working with her in Salzburg. Avoid like the plague. Tamara Wilson's Turandot is the one to watch (TW, incidentally, refused to black up for Aida in Verona, as Netrebko so readily did).
