Continuing with my new buys (from '23), I just finished reading #BurnTheNegative by #JoshWinning.
Back in October I read the synopsis and sample chapters and knew I would like it.
I was right.
A precise blend of #horror trivia and callbacks and a story that mostly moves at a breakneck pace, with impecable prose.
The main idea seems inspired by Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994), but doing much more than what could be done in a 2 hour film.
Recommended.
I hope that this book does come out as a mass-market paperback with a gnarly '90s style cover. It would suit it so well. But since they're being phased-out, I guess we'll only have the trade paperback.
A film adaptation would also be great, since it gives plenty of opportunities to play with the medium, similar to what Winning does with the interstitials "taken" from print media.
I would start the film a la Tropic Thunder, with a fake trailer for The Guesthouse.
