🪔 For : This is a birthday invitation letter 🎊🎁🎉 written by Claudia Severa, wife of Aelius Brocchus, commander of Vindolanda fort. Claudia wrote to Sulpicia Lepidina, whom she calls her sister. Displayed now at the “Legion: life in the Roman army” exhibition in the British Museum. 👉 Full text of the letter is in the Alt text. 📸 me

The full text of this letter reads: “Claudia Severa to her Lepidina greetings. On 11 September, sister, for the day of the celebration of my birthday, I give you a warm invitation to make sure that you come to us, to make the day more enjoyable for me by your arrival, if you are present. Give my greetings to your Cerialis. My Aelius and my little son send him their greetings. I shall expect you, sister. Farewell, sister, my dearest soul, as I hope to prosper, and hail”.

    🪔 This is a roman tableware glass set from the Roman Glass Museum of , Croatia. This museum has an exceptional collection of roman glass objects of all kinds. Vessels of the photo are dates to the 1st-2nd c. AD. 📸 me

    🪔 For : This is a bowl signed CALVS - a potter who worked in the 2nd half of the 1st c. BC at La Graufesenque in Aveyron, France; it depicts a leopard eating grapes 🤔 and a pegasus. Now in the Fondation Pierre Gianadda, , Suisse. 📸 me
