The original NiGHTS into Dreams debuted on the Sega Saturn 28 years ago today. If you haven't played it yet, go get the Steam version for free while supplies last. These games show how 2D platform game mechanics can still feel really good with a character that flies everywhere in a 3D world. NiGHTS doesn't even have animations for standing or walking, in the first game at least.
This promo art was used for the sequel's soundtrack, posters, and wallpaper. The soundtrack credits its artwork to "NiGHTS Development Team" which isn't very useful. Kazuyuki Hoshino is the game's art director and lead character designer, so maybe credit him?
