Politics is endangering the whole Lemmy, with instances defederated because of their political views and a lot of censorship.

Calm down folks! This is a web forum, people should be free to share what they think (without harassing anyone) without being censored, creating a biased platform.

I'm not into non-free-speech instances (like lemmy.world), but I do understand and respect their decision because it MAY decrease harassment between users. But please don't defederate with everyone otherwise it would still be a biased platform. Let people choose what to see and just ban spam and real harassment (I've used too much this word).

I'm not into politics myself and it drives me crazy that we can't rely on fine communities because they are on instances defederated by big instances because of their political views.

Could be useful to write numbers not in base 10.

For non-tech people is like we write base 16 numbers (hexadeximal):
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F

So 26 would be 1A.

Edit: Does anyone know if these are available in unicode? I can't find them, so I guess not.

In my opinion, public istitutions like schools should push FOSS instead of giving private corps more power.

But most offices actually use those private corps shitty software, so that's why they train students on that.

I need to do more advanced stuff, oh GOD!

These closed platforms by wanting to be more "user-friendly" most of the time become geek-unfriendly. This also make them more profits by making "certified" courses on a damn software. If you need a course to even use a software, then rethink the usability of that software.

The best thing would be to make yourself a web crawler which get executed by cron.
I'm not sure there is something which check some specific strings on some specific github repos for checking updates, but I could be wrong.

LibreOffice should receive more updates than OnlyOffice OpenOffice.
I switched my uncle from OnlyOffice OpenOffice to LibreOffice (for work) and he never complained.

Edit: I've confused OnlyOffice with OpenOffice.

Anyway, I have both LibreOffice and OnlyOffice. I always use LibreOffice but for one file (yes it is an excel spreadsheet) I need to use OnlyOffice 'cause Libre can't open it.

The downside of Google Pixels is that they don't have jack connector and sd slot.

But I accepted the deal just to use GrapheneOS (I bought one used on ebay). Sometimes the battery lasts 3 days without being recharged.

People at GrapheneOS should really focus on some brand that cares about users on the hardware side.

You can't just recommend Pinephone.
It is at best an half baked device. Phone calls are not that good and I had to manually enable VoLTE and flashed a custom firmware on the modem.

No, I'm Google free for at least 5 years now. I only have Aurora Store for the PS App.
I really only use FOSS apps.

It indeed empowers common people by distributing full seasons of series all in one place in a somewhat user friendly way without "10 chicks in 10mt" popups.

A bunch of my friends, who don't even know how to install an adblocker, have a very rich catalog of things there.

Also, it is more difficult for a telegram channel to be banned than a website.

It is common for security first infrastructures to put machines inside a local network without internet access and just connect a "bridge" pc with internet access to them for management or retriving data.

The vulnerability issue here is if the bridge pc runs Windows. Would be the weakest ring in the chain.
