I tried Aikido for a while and did some Qui Gong as well. I see your point about the BS floating around, but the physical and also mental benefits are undeniable. It may vary from person to person, the same way some people can't meditate, some won't get anything from these types of activities.

Some people here saying the same age you work and pay taxes and I absolutely agree, but with the caveat that it shouldn't be compulsory before age 25.

And I pick 25 as it's the average age iirc the brain is considered to be fully matured.

I personally had no clue of what I was doing and regret my first few rounds voting. I was aware at the time that I lacked the information and the big picture view of the political situation to make an informed decision though, and wished I could avoid voting entirely but in my country it was compulsory.

The 5th element

Die Hard 1

Back to the Future, any

Jurassic Park 1

The Lion King

Road to El Dorado

Surely I'm forgetting a few but these come to mind now

You'd think Citizen Sade came up with the story but no, it's an article. Things like these always reinforce my belief that his stories were wild for sure but not that detached from reality.

He taught those pesky mortals how to use fire, can you believe it? And the gods didn't create those mortals to begin with. Add insult to injury I guess.

Finally, someone asking the questions that really matter!

My favorite is Piccolo. I liked Piccolo Daimaoh in DB, he made a good villain but his offspring, the Piccolo that carried on to DBZ, I fell in love with that character. The design is great, the personality, and all his arc until the Cell saga. Sadly he quickly falls into the background after that.

I know he gets the orange version nowadays but I haven't checked out the movie or manga for that matter. I'm not a fan of the 3d style art for the franchise at least not for animation media.

I'll +1 this on behalf of my sister

I guess my spinal injection on Friday. This pain is crippling

Mothra ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

I think so? Some steroid thing, CT scan assisted.

Mothra ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

Yup, I got a pinched nerve between c7 and c6 it makes my arm feel like I broke a bone. Did you recover fully btw? I got a post asking for people's experiences with this sort of thing if you're inclined to share. Thanks

Mothra ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

I'm sorry it didn't improve as much.

I can't say I loved coffee the first time I tried it. It took years for it to get better, and eventually it did. An acquired taste for sure... Hopefully the same applies to my spine? Thanks for sharing

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

So if the knee is still numb- you didn't recover fully, is that correct? Was this recent or a long time ago?

Will keep in mind the muscle strengthening, I'm sure I'll get a referral for a physiotherapist at some point.

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

Oh wow! How come they gave you the wrong diagnosis? No imaging used? That sounds like a nightmare, glad you found a solution in the end.

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

Thanks for sharing this! Those images look very painful. Was this caused by an injury I gather? Or was it just degenerative?

Also thanks for placing an emphasis on the stretching. I typically don't see the benefits from stretching unless I've done some hardcore workouts or something. Will keep in mind.

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

So, what was yours? A hernia , bulge, or else?

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

Ahhh I feel for you and I dread my case now! Thanks for sharing

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

I don't know if you're the same person using a different account, but, for how long was the nerve damaged so that it was unrecoverable? Days, weeks, months?

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

I'm sorry to hear. That's awful... Thank you for sharing

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

Thanks for sharing. It gives me hope seeing you can do what you want to do in spite of the issue.

Mothra OP ,

Wow, success story - not the most usual type of story! That sounds super painful, I can't even imagine what it's like to sever a piece of disc. Thanks for sharing

Glad to know that worked out for you! Thanks for sharing

So while I was in my teens I got into a palmistry phase. I was like 15 or 14 y/o. One of my highschool teachers started teasing me about it, and at some point asked me for a palm reading, just for the lulz.

I took it seriously, as I do with most things unfortunately, and did as asked. I didn't say much because I had no idea of what I was doing, but I did recognize in his hands what my book said was a sign of sudden end of life. I estimated the time and warned him he probably didn't have a lot of time left, five years tops. He got really angry when I said that and held the grudge for about two weeks, claiming I was being rude. I just wanted to help...

Time passed and I grew out of my palm reading phase.

Almost two years later during class someone showed up and informed us that the teacher died in a car crash for driving recklessly. The room went silent. Everyone including myself had forgotten about the palm reading incident, well, almost everyone. Breaking the silence with a gasp, one of my classmates said, "OMG!!! IT'S LIKE WHAT (my irl name) SAID DURING THE PALM READING!!! OMG!!!"

Mothra ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

Right so you take it really seriously... Regulating something inconsequential now has consequences and they're draconian!

Mothra ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

I only read the Count, and I loved it

Mothra ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

May I ask, why did you like 100 years of solitude? Did you read it in Spanish or translated to another language? I read it in Spanish and can appreciate a lot of good things in it, but I always wonder how it feels like for people who don't have a latin/Spanish background. Perhaps you do, I don't know. Still curious!

Are you self aware of different types of hungry?

As one of the most hardcore types of roadies, I've experienced many of the extremes of human endurance. Like the need for sodium, magnesium, and potassium from massive leg cramps, or calorie crashes when it feels like your tank runs so empty you hit a massive wall where your body all but quits....

Mothra ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

Yeah I often get specific cravings. They're usually in the following categories:

  • sweets (not too often but when I do, I usually hit chocolate)

  • fruits (sometimes I crave sweeter, sometimes acidic) I think the water and fiber here plays a role because when I crave these the chocolate doesn't fix it, and isn't enjoyable

  • protein ( eggs or any meat, dairy doesn't cut it)

  • fatty stuff (here I'll go for cheese, butter, peanut butter, perhaps canned kippers if I got some or if the only thing available is chocolate I'll take it)

  • very salty stuff ( green olives, prosciutto, rarely chips, I get what I can)

Nuts are sometimes good at quenching protein and fat cravings but many times it won't work.

I've had Proton for a while, I'm satisfied, would recommend.

Previously I used to use Nord, but ever since... Uh I forgot what they did. They changed headquarters? Disclosed something they shouldn't? Somebody here will correct me and point out what happened.

Anyway, Proton 👍

Omg. Bowel pain is the most excruciating type of pain I've felt, it's about as strong as breaking a bone. I'm sorry you been through that!

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

Thanks. I appreciate knowing first hand from a guy who didn't make the first move AND still got to stay with her for a long time; all other stories of girls making the first move I've heard either don't work or end in very short term relationships.

I think I'm not being demonstrative enough, and he probably thinks I'm not interested. There is enough reason for that. But it could also be that he's not wanting to commit to anything so he's not asking me anything. I dread this second option. I'm rambling already. What I'm trying to say, in response to your account of not getting the flirts, is that there was some flirting on both sides but also plenty of mixed signals.

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

I'm open to suggestions, especially on how to spot a good moment to ask deep questions. My brain freezes when he's around, preparing myself would help

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

😆

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

I'll see what I can do. Maybe I'm too self conscious about coming with something out of the blue.

We tend to walk a lot around shops, or have a meal somewhere, or sometimes hang at a pub with his work mates. Occasionally a movie night. Got more suggestions for hanging out? I'm all eyes

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

It's not me downvoting you btw. Maybe you are right, perhaps I'm not mentally prepared to handle it. At least I know what to talk about next time I see my therapist

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

This has already happened... We can hang out. It's taking things one step forward the tricky part. Guess I'm going to have to take my chances and find yet again another excuse to hang out, and just say it. I'm getting tired of feeling like this

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

We've been hanging out a few times, but it wasn't "a date" even though it was just the two of us most times. We don't see or talk as frequently as people who are about to start dating do though. I was hoping to build some momentum but from the replies here I'm getting the idea that I'm going to have to man up and ask him on a date formally.

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

Thanks. I don't know where I got my sources, possibly internet experts, some of my friends, my mother, other women I've met briefly.

I am a recluse practically, and we've been meeting just the two of us so there would be no toxic environment or anything. The one with stakes to lose is me, since we work in a similar industry (well atm I'm on retail but hopefully I can find a job doing what I like again) and word spreads fast. I already have two embarrassing experiences with people who are in the industry and it does NOT look helpful at all when applying for jobs. I'm always wondering if any of those guys is ever reviewing applications and if that has any impact on it.

But what you say is true though. I hate this so much

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

I agree, I wasn't planning to monologue, but yeah.

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

Thank you!

Mothra OP ,
@Mothra@mander.xyz avatar

Hey, what you say is true, but I still find value in the opinions of a bunch of strangers. It's not professional, yet it helps me see what the majority of people would think in my shoes. It's a check-in with reality in a way. I don't think I could get that talking to a single person no matter how good they are. They're two completely different things.
