Meta announced that users on Threads will be able to see fediverse replies on other posts besides their own. In addition, posts that originated through the Threads API, like those created via third-party apps and scheduling services, will now be syndicated to the fediverse.

If you really look through history, I think you'll find that people did things like this because they were SO BORED. An entire town would come out to watch a small time trial because there just wasn't anything better to do. Hell, my parents who grew up in the 70's once told me "We'd be outside and bicycle around as kids all the time, after a while.. we were so incredibly bored." And during that time, tv and radio existed. I'm very happy we have the entertainment we do.

Absolutely, given the pretty low active users (compared to large social medias anyway) there's a lot going on here. There's certainly not infinite new content like Reddit, but that may not be a bad thing.

In 4 things white people can do to start making the fediverse less toxic for Black people (DRAFT!) and its cross-posts, quite a few people said things like "maybe racism is a problem on Mastodon, but I don't see it on Lemmy." I have seen extremely little racism on Lemmy, but my instance is defederated from those places (.ml, Hexbear etc.) they blocked us themselves so we didn't even have to do anything. So I definitely dont have the whole picture.

A bunch of allegedly this and that that has not been proven. Allegedly putting people in dangerous situations and then refusing to provide medical support. Having someone on the channel that is an alleged sex offender (charges are being dropped on that one), among other things. Looks really bad, but I would advise coming to your own conclusions as information comes out.

    I'm thinking y'all just grew up.

    Take it from a noise control officer, there's plenty of house parties around especially during the summer, it's just university (for Americans: college) students far younger than me blasting music, sometimes at smaller flats, sometimes in large houses rented out by 5+ students. I'm not that old either but man, not a fan of that new party music.

    I'm in what most would consider a medium sized town and there are manyy houses parties per suburb (even the quiet ones) during summer. They're around for sure, just attended by people under 25.

    I'm giving off get off my lawn energy aren't I?

    Where I am I do mobile security patrols on night shift which mostly include site checks at various industrial sites and rest homes, and for this company also noise complaints on behalf of the city council
