Really good article on the Burrow Owl from LA Times. The headline made it sound gloomy, and it is a bit, but very well written and goes have some hopeful elements and of course love for one of our favorite owls here. I highly recommend you read the whole thing, but I've given you a TL;DR if that's all you require....
I've been doing some reading on India's plans to do massive development projects to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This will involve destruction of large parts of the currently forested lands, displacing both animals and local people to try to create a massive shipping port to rival Hong Kong....

Short Eared Owls are widely distributed, having made their way to all continents but Australia and Antarctica. They even found their way to Hawaii long enough ago they have changed into their own subspecies, the Pueo....
